A Sweet Success!
For the first time ever, I decided to bake a cake—my all-time favorite, a red velvet cake. I’ve always loved indulging in it, so I thought, why not try making it myself instead of buying one from the supermarket? Though I used a cake mix and store-bought cream cheese frosting, it was still an exciting experience.
The process was simple enough: I mixed the butter, milk, eggs, and cake mix, then poured the batter into the container of my bread maker machine. I selected the “cake” option, waited for it to bake, and voilà! When I pulled out the cake, I was so amazed. I couldn’t believe I had actually baked it!
The next step was the frosting, which, well, didn’t turn out as expected. I made the rookie mistake of microwaving the store-bought cream cheese filling, which made it too watery. As soon as I tried spreading it on the cake, it turned into a bit of a mess. Lesson learned: do not microwave the frosting, even if the package says so! But despite the frosting mishap, the cake itself tasted delicious. The frosting was a little too sweet for my taste, but overall, I’d say I did pretty well for my first try!
I felt really accomplished seeing the cake fully baked. Even though I used ready-made ingredients, it felt satisfying to make something from scratch (sort of!). Now I’m inspired to try baking more. Should I go for chocolate chip muffins next? Maybe carrot cake? Or perhaps my all-time favorite, blueberry cheesecake? The possibilities are endless, and I can’t wait to experiment more in the kitchen.
